HOW TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR
Surgery Consultations
We run an appointment system and you can normally book up to 4 weeks in advance. Please telephone or call at the surgery to make an appointment. You can also book appointments on line via the internet. You first need to register your interest with the practice so that we can arrange for you to receive the necessary password to access the web site.
You will be given an appointment for 12 minutes, and the doctors aim to run to time, to avoid patients waiting too long. However, in the case of urgent medical problems, your appointment may run late.
If you have several problems, or you feel that you will need longer than 12 minutes, please ask the receptionist for a double appointment.
For an appointment the same day, please ring as soon as you can after 8.00 am. A doctor will normally speak to you and, if your problem is medically urgent, an appropriate appointment will be arranged. However we do ask patients to act responsibly in assessing whether their need is urgent.
You may not always be able to see the doctors of your choice - HOWEVER YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO SEE A DOCTOR.
Telephone Consultations
If you wish to consult a doctor by telephone you should call during normal consultation times. The doctor will either speak to you at once in the case of urgent calls, or return your call as soon as it is convenient. Please remember to leave off any answering machine, while awaiting the doctor’s return call, and let the receptionist know if you are planning to go out.
Nurse Consultations
The Practice Nurses work closely with the doctors, and many of the routine consultations for chronic disease management – e.g. for high Blood Pressure, Asthma etc. are now performed by the nurses.
