David qualified at the Royal London Medical College in 1987. He moved to York to join the York GP Vocational scheme where he met Kate, his wife, who is the nursing sister on G1, the Gynaecology ward at York Hospital. They have three children.
Since joining the practice in 1993, David's special interest is in Psychiatry, and he worked for some years as a clinical assistant at Bootham Park Hospital. His other special interests are Dermatology and Respiratory medicine. He also does acupuncture at the practice for musculoskeletal problems.
David works now part time at the practice as he is the Medical Director for NHS North Yorkshire and York. (www.nyypct.nhs.uk)
NHS North Yorkshire and York takes the lead in shaping, planning, and commissioning health services in North Yorkshire.... so this keeps him fairly busy!
David still works at the weekends for the Out of Hour’s Service, and provides mentorship for nurses who are training in nurse prescribing. In his spare time, at home he tries to avoid getting roped into helping with homework and settling disputes on the playstation!
