Qualified at the MiddlesexHospital, London in 1972
In 1977 Stuart became the third in a long line of GPs in his family, a decision that he has never regretted.He has a special interest in Diabetes and performs Minor Surgery for the practice. He is an enthusiastic GP educationalist and is Course Organiser for the York GP Training Scheme, while still playing an active role in teaching within the practice.Increasing medical technology and limited health resources have fuelled a special interest in Ethics and he is a part-time Senior Lecturer in Medical Ethics at LeedsUniversity.
He is an appraiser of other GPs for North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust.
He has just completed a Masters degree in Primary Health Care, which has further strengthened his enthusiasm for the holistic care of patients.
He manages to swim most days, cycles at the weekends and enjoys writing music.On his holidays, he travels throughout France, finding wines for the Medical Society Wine Club for York doctors, which has enabled him to speak a smattering of French!
